SA mum sues state: parental rights violated by radical ‘inclusivity’ class
A South Australian mum has pulled her “traumatised” daughter from school and is filing suit against the state education department after a radical LGBT “inclusivity” class included material on incest and bestiality.
According to The Australian, the lecture, given by an organisation called Headspace Berri to year 9 girls, also included graphic pictures of transgender patients.
The mum, Nicki Gaylard, said her daughter left the presentation halfway through feeling sick.
Parents were not told about the lecture and given the opportunity to consent, and teachers did not attend to supervise. The organisation has, to date, also refused to provide parents with a copy of the presentation materials used in the class.
As a parent, I feel very betrayed that within the school, they felt they had the right to present these things to my daughter without, first of all, asking her whether she wanted to be there.
There was no consent from parents, no parents knew this was going on.
This is a clear betrayal of the rights of parents to know what their children are being taught to ensure it is age-appropriate.
ADF International are assisting Ms Gaylard in her legal case along with her local team of lawyers. ADF Communications officer, Lois McLatchie Miller, told Sky News:
More and more frequently, we're seeing cases of kids being exposed to shocking content - most concerningly, without their parents’ knowledge.
It is a parent's primary right to be able to protect your children, to know the kind of education that they're receiving.
HRLA is committed to protecting these basic parental rights and will monitor the progress of the lawsuit carefully.
