Christian doctor, husband and father Jereth Kok has been waiting for this day for five years.

He has been unable to work in his chosen profession after being suspended for his conservative and Christian views on abortion, gender transitioning and sexuality, which he posted on his personal social media.

It has been a difficult five years for Jereth and his family.

On top of the five-year legal battle, he has faced years of uncertainty about his future as a doctor and been forced to retrain in a new career to provide for his wife and young family.

The process has certainly been the punishment.

Next week, Jereth will finally get the chance to defend himself in court, with a five-day hearing scheduled at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

HRLA will be defending Jereth against charges that he is unfit to practice medicine because of his online comments.

It is becoming increasingly costly to publicly express Christian beliefs.

HRLA is proud to be representing Jereth as he pushes back against this punishment for expressing his Christian beliefs online and against the pressure more and more Christians are facing to remain silent on controversial issues of public importance.

The decision will have important legal implications and a win would be a landmark for freedom of speech in this country.
