Stand with Lyle

In 2020, Lyle Shelton spoke out.

For publicly expressing his view that “Drag Queen Story Time” is harmful to children and that drag queens are dangerous role models who promote unsafe genderfluid ideology to kids, he was taken to court.

Two drag performers filed a vilification complaint and what followed was a six-year legal nightmare that is still ongoing.

In 2023, the tribunal dismissed the case – Lyle’s criticisms were not hate speech. It should have been over, but the drag queens, with assistance from taxpayer-funded lawyers and pro bono counsel, took the matter on appeal.

Unfortunately for Lyle, the appeal tribunal overturned the original decision and found that Lyle’s public advocacy incited hatred, serious contempt, and serious ridicule for the drag queens.

Lyle is being forced back into court to challenge a decision to the Supreme Court in order to defend his right to speak freely about threats to our children and society.

This is bigger than one man.

If expressing concern for children can lead to years of legal punishment, what does that mean for everyone else?

What does it mean for parents?

For teachers?

For everyday Australians who want to speak honestly?

The Human Rights Law Alliance is defending Lyle but we cannot do it without you.

We need to raise $84,500 by April 30 to fund the next stage of this case.

The process is long, stressful, and costly.

But with your support, Lyle does not stand alone.

Give now to defend his case and protect the freedom to speak.

Yours sincerely,
